Programs

The Montauk Historical Society works to educate the public on the history of the Montauk Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in New York State, and Second House, the oldest home in Montauk. Through a series of on-site programs, the past and present of these historical sites are kept alive and available to the public. The Montauk Lighthouse remains in operation and is the site of regular, year-round tours. The Second House Museum, built in 1797, provides a window to the history of Montauk and, though it remains nearly the same as when it was first constructed, it is currently being restored to more closely resemble its original interior.
