The Harlem Center for Education offers educational programs and career counseling for middle and high school students and adults. The Talent Search Middle School program is an after school program that serves seventh and eighth graders and offers tutoring, career and personal counseling, high school selection advisement, high school/college campus tours and cultural/educational trips. Additionally, the program has a summer computer camp and summer engineering lab for students. The Talent Search High School and Re-Entry to School program provides services for current high school students, those interested in returning to high school or college, and students enrolled in a GED program. The program offers tutoring, college, financial aid and career counseling, SAT prep classes, curriculum advisement and college tours. The Summer Scholars program assists rising seniors in the college application process during a six-week program. Shooting Stars is a basketball clinic for juniors that allows participants to engage in tournaments, in addition to receiving academic assistance. The Educational Opportunity Center program is for adults interested in obtaining a GED. The center offers GED preparation classes, tutoring, college advisement and an ESL component. The new math/science program serves over 150 9th graders by providing hands-on activities such as field trips, tutoring, speakers and advising.
