Educational Video Center meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.

EVC's two core programs are the Youth Documentary Workshop and Professional Development Program. EVC annually serves 60 New York City high school students at our facilities through its intensive afterschool Youth Documentary Workshops during fall and spring semesters, and in the summer as part of the New York City DYCD Summer Youth Employment Program. At EVC, youth learn to use professional video equipment to collaboratively research, shoot, and edit a documentary on a community social justice issue of their choice. Students develop important media arts, civic engagement, college, and career preparation skills and earn academic credit in the process. EVC's Professional Development Program (PDP) multiplies the impact of its model by integrating documentary media arts and social justice learning into the classes of hundreds of New York City public middle and high school students each year. PDP builds the capacity for teachers and school leaders to develop a sustainable documentary media arts program and culture of student media arts makers in their schools through a continuum of services including: 1) experiential institutes and workshops, 2) on-site coaching and study groups, 3) on-line coaching forums and social networks, and 4) a Youth Powered Video Film Festival to showcase works produced by their students. By partnering with individual schools, district leaders, and continuing educational programs at colleges and universities, EVC serves 100 teachers and 5,000 students each year through this program.
