Citizens’ Committee for Children of New York (CCC) identifies the causes and effects of vulnerability and risk; recommending solutions that children and their families face; and making certain that public policies, legislation, budgets, programs and services are responsive to the needs of children. CCC pairs professional staff experts with citizen volunteers to document the facts, educate the community and advocate for: increased opportunities for achievement and success; prevention of child and family crisis and displacement; shoring up the safety net for children and families; enhanced well-being and quality of life for children, advancing policies that support working families. CCC’s Community Leadership Course and Youth Community Leadership Course train adult and youth volunteers on the status of New York City’s children, state and city budgets and the essential elements of effective research and advocacy.
