Staten Island Mental Health Society (SIMHS) provides comprehensive mental health and related services to Staten Island children who are emotionally or behaviorally disturbed, developmentally or learning disabled, neurologically impaired, dependent on alcohol or drugs, and/or economically disadvantaged. SIMHS attempts to help these children and their families improve the quality of their lives by diagnosing and treating emotional, behavioral and developmental problems, creating and supporting programs and environments that reduce the risk of disability, and increasing knowledge of the causes and treatments of mental illness and developmental impairment. SIMHS’s programs include outpatient clinical services, training in parenting skills, after-school academic tutoring, and day care services.
