To further our mission, SPRC does the following: Develops responsive programs for single parents and their families to fulfill unmet needs; advocates for improvements in social practices, policies and regulations which affect single parent families, and promotes a positive image of single parents and their families within the New York City community. Single Parent Resource Center meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.


Our programs include: The Single Fathers' Program which provides custodial and non-custodial fathers with workshops and services that seek to improve the frequency and/or quality of their relationship with their children; Access for Children - a family reunification program for children and parents in the first year after incarceration; Single Parents in Recovery - Weekly relapse prevention workshops for single mothers and fathers in recovery from drug or alcohol addiction; Monday Night Support Group - The Monday Night support Group is a program for mothers only. The SPRC staff also provides alcohol and drug prevention groups for homeless children who range in age from 6-12. Art and writing projects, meditation, musical programs and dance activities are conducted to teach youth how to work in groups, express feelings and handle the challenges of transitional living. The Youth Leadership Program (YLP) is an after school program for teens, ages 13-17, who are children of parents with histories of drug and alcohol abuse, incarceration and homelessness. In addition, SPRC provides Parentline, a telephone resource service for single parents and providers seeking information about parenting and referrals to community resources.
